Gravenstein Apple Fair

Sonoma County Farm Trails' 45th Gravenstein Apple Fair will be  held on August 11th & 12th, 2018 from 10:00AM-6:00PM under the shade of majestic oaks in Ragle Ranch Park in Sebastopol. There’s something for everyone: live music on two stages, arts & crafts vendors, excellent local food, cider, microbrews & wine, contests & activities, Children’s Corner, Artisan Tasting Lounge, Do-It-Yourself Arena, Life on the Farm Arena and of course our famous heirloom Gravenstein apples. PLUS, we are pleased to welcome the Agrarian Games to the Gravenstein Apple Fair this year, presented by Farmer’s Guild/C.A.F.F.

Find Sonoma County producers scattered throughout the fair both days in the craft cider tent and artisan tasting lounge.

Carbon Farming & Growing Cider Apples Tour

Apple Bottom Farm, 8490 Occidental Rd, Sebastopol, CA 95472

Join Ethic Ciders for a tour of their organic cider orchard which is being managed with one of Sonoma County's first Orchard Carbon Farm Plans. Ethic Ciders has partnered with the Goldridge RCD and NRCS to identify practices that increase carbon sequestration and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Learn about regenerative orchard management strategies as well as techniques for growing apples for cider. We'll explore rehabbing old neglected apple trees, topwork grafting old trees to cider varieties and replanting new cider specific varieties.

Certified Cider Professional (CCP) Class

We're excited to offer a Certified Cider Professional exam-prep course at Devoto Gardens and Farms in Sebastopol as part of Sonoma County Cider Week. Sponsored by Golden State Cider and taught by local cider expert Darlene Hayes, it's the first time this course has been held in California. The 2.5-hour class will cover the five sections of the Level 1 exam: (1) Apples, the orchard & history (2) Cider making (3) Flavor & evaluation (4) Cider styles (5) Keeping & serving and (6) Food & cider and will prepare you to take the exam online at the U. S. Association of Cider Makers website. There will an optional cider tasting offered at the end of the class.

Backyard Cider & Pig Roast + Farm Tour

Join Backyard in Forestville as we celebrate Sonoma County Cider Week and the Sonoma County Farm Trails Gravenstein Apple Fair with a pig roast, cider tasting, and live music. Tilted Shed, Eye Cyder, and Horse & Plow will be pouring, so come meet the makers of some of Sonoma County's finest ciders, including the special Tilted Plow collaboration cider between Tilted Shed and Horse & Plow to commemorate the 2018 Gravenstein Apple Fair!

3:15: Cider Sip & Taste Tour at Tilted Shed's Fireball Farm (Limit 15 people, separate ticket, purchased in addition to pig roast) 

4:30: Meet the cidermakers, taste amazing local, Sonoma County ciders, hors d’oeuvres, and live music with David Jenkins (flamenco guitar)

5:30: Family-style pig roast and more amazing cider

“Basque” in the bounty of Sonoma County with the release of Tilted Shed's 2017 Inclinado Sidra Natural at their Spanish-inspired txotx cider party!  “Catch” tastes of the 2017 Inclinado wild-fermented Gravenstein sidra straight from the barrel! Taste authentic Basque and Asturian sidras along with traditional txotx pintxos (appetizers). Practice “throwing” sidra with the traditional Spanish long pours (escanciar). Play the traditional Basque percussion instrument txalaparta. And be the first to the buy bottles of Tilted Shed's very limited release of 2017 Inclinado Sidra Natural.
